SAT Exam Percentile

The SAT exam percentile, also called the percentile point, is the point or percentage on the measurement scale below which a specified percentage of scores falls which mean. The 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile points are often reported for large data sets. The 50th percentile point is also called the median and, like the mean, is an average and a good indicator of the center of the distribution of scores. Comparing the 25th and 75th percentile points gives an idea of the range of scores in the populations reported in this document. Like the standard deviation, the difference between the scores associated with the 75th and 25th percentiles is an indication of the variability of the scores in a particular sample.
